Come on let's her the Berlin bbbbaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh

Wednesday, March 15, 2006
hee hee just a lil' something for the 'dear' old german lady who bared her teeth and bellowed 'baaaahhhhhh' in Sebestian's and mine faces, when we tried to help her with the gigantic bags. Maybe we looked too helpful to be true. ;p Well, this aint exactly the kinda ending i was wishing for but nonetheless it made our berlin trip truely memorable.

anyways fast forward to the start of the trip..not too good a start either, with the snowstorm and the awful traffic..imagine 2 freaking hours just to get to Frankfurt (it usually takes 30min)..and traffic was stil at an absolute standstill for another 30min b4 we started to get moving..well the only silver lining was we go to just stare at the pretty snow white meadows..kinda has a calming and mellow effect..at the same time a bit of warmness from within amidst the cold..

and of course..some bored shots on the bus..followed by a Jean Claude movie in GERMAN..snoozed halfway through it..

finally got to Berlin at 12mn..yesh! 11 freaking hours on the tiny bus..*i miss those semi-cama bus rides in argentina!! lean back relax, chit chat and nice ENGLISH movies*
had a nice warm welcome at the Berlin Youth Hostel International..haha the reception and the accomodation was as warm as a hospital..nice boring white walls and corridors..cold tiled flooring and gym-styled lockers as cupboards.. *ack*

thankfully we had to leave in 10min to go clubbing!! Havana Club..hee 3 different rooms..R&B, hip hop and salsa! hee hee well kinda expected too much for the salsa..cos didn't really have a partner and only Laure and Constantine was into it..kinda felt a lil bored after a few dances..so joined the rest back in the hip hop..hahaz really great fun to dance with friends..just pure good fun..i guess we were so much fun some young punks even mistaken it as a dance-off and challenged the guys..hee..Sylv did his light toes thing and Gene did a hilarous single-foot-hopping with my hands-in-the-air..well not exactly the coolest but definitely original..;p

party ended prematurely at 4.30-ish..cos some folks wanted to rest and the others just went along..sigh..Natalie and I waited for Justin and Fabian (2 organisers) cos we were famished..but we ended up playing fußball at the hostel..we won!! woohoo...hahaz wasn't really fair thou..cos it was only Justin vs Fabiana and I..;p

overslept the next day and had to eat my bfast alone outside..*boohoo* Nat waited up and walked me to Sony Centre and back..nothing muvh,,but just a look at everyday life of the Berliners..they looks so relaxed..like they're really taking their time..but not in a negative way..it's the kinda optimum pace of working..a comfortable pace for you to work at the same time enjoy doing it..we shoudl really import tt culture into s'pore..then maybe we can do without all the courtesy and green campaigns to make us better ppl..

Sculpture along Potsdamer Street and the Sony Center's Mt. Fuji roofing~

Potsdamer Bridge..2 years to build it?!

Team Singapore at Reichstag~

Following the trail of the Berlin Wall..

The Brandenburg Gate which stood between..

the lights of Eastern Germany

..and the junkie in me can't stop by do a lil' rummaging at the nearby flea market..tons of memorbilia from the GDR period..and the usual old records..jewelry boxes..toys..Alvin and I helped ourselves to the uniforms..hee..

..then more shopping along the main shopping street near Zoological Station..kinda like Orchard Rd, but 5 times trendier and of course a price tag to match~

Met up with the rest for dinner in the hostel *free* typical german food *drumrolls* spaghetti! hahaz..anyways the pubing with the rest after that kinda made up for the less than satisfactory dinner..took a train up *for free again* hee..got off and was right along the red light district..hee had qt a fun time..err..appreciating feminine beauty with the french guys..had a funny conversation abt fake breasts and all..hahaz even they have conflicting views on it..;p finally got into a nice warm English looking bar, with some drinks..and starting talking abt cultural differences..race differences..hee had quite a bit of fun talking abt the welcome ceremony of PM Lee in Germany and forgot the customary bow in front of the German flag..;p made headlines here the very next day..

went on a club after tt..a gay club..hee..it was really off the roads..we actually had to walk through like a factory area to get to it..looked like an abandoned warehouse with new lights inside..pity no cameras were allowed inside cos it was something else when we got in..

there was a huge coats hanging area..probably meant for at least a thousand coats..which leads to somewhat like a waiting area with a mural worthy of a space in an art gallery..then a huge open room with couches in the middle and a bar by the corner..this is just level 1 and it already looks the size of Zouk+Phuture+Velvet..;p

2 flights up..another dance floor..with the DJ box at one end and the long bar partitioned away on the other..nice setting, a lil' cold cos there's just a handful of ppl still..spotted a third flight of stairs to a passage way that splits into a dance floor on the right and a lil area for making out next to the toilet..hahaz..

party only got full swing at abt 3am..meanwhile as they blasted techno and house overhear i chatted with Toby abt the gay scene in Sweden, explored the many dark corners of the club and checked out gay couples make their first moves of the courtship dance..;p

it's a cool club..but somehow..didn't really enjoy it as much as the time in Havana or the one in Argentina..really miss that last night in argentina..the music, the ppl, the place..totally some else altogether..hope i'll experience it again soon..=)
